DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this nearly pristine and very lovely, wonderfully decorated faience glazed porcelain creamer or small pitcher by the
Danish Modern
artist
Marianne Johnson
for
Royal Copenhagen
Denmark. Fashioned somewhere between 1952-1958, it is a delicate, exquisite example of the internationally well-known and unmitigated beauty of
Royal Copenhagen
Danish ceramic art. The porcelain's surfaces are expectedly crazed since it was fashioned nearly 70 years ago. The bulbous body is wheel-thrown, while the handle and spout are hand constructed and affixed by hand to the body of the ascending upper vessel's collar. The glaze is highly viscous and glossy, making the ultramarine, cobalt blue and sepia brown glaze even more vivid, saturated and rich looking, jumping off the base white of the porcelain china. The pitcher is free from hairline cracks, flea-bites to any of its edges, stains, scuffs, abrasions or glaze loss. A remarkable
Royal Copenhagen
vintage piece of Danish ceramic art. Gorgeous.
