    Description

This listing is for four different toy premium rings from the 1940s.
In this listing you get one of each of the following:
    Lone Ranger Atomic Bomb Ring
This ring was offered as a premium in 1947 by Kix cereals for 15 cents plus a cereal box top.
This ring was advertised as “Awesome! Amazing! Atomic!” and
    directions
    were described as follows:
“Twist tail fin, slide it off and you’ll find a concealed Observation Lens inside. Go into dark room and wait
until your eyes are accustomed to darkness. Look into lens—and SOCKO! You’ll see brilliant stabs of flashing light caused by released energy of atoms split to smithereens inside atom chamber.”
The ring is unique in that it purported to contain radioactive “radioisotopes” and indeed still briefly glows in the dark if you shine a bright light in its lens!
    Lone Ranger Weather Ring
    1946
Lone Ranger General Mills cereal premium/mail order ring. This ring has a hexagonal clear plastic cover over a piece of litmus paper that was designed to change colors with the weather.
    Tom Mix Sliding Whistle Ring
This one is a 1949 Tom Mix sliding whistle ring that was a toy premium from Ralston Cereal. The sliding whistle appears to be aluminum and works great.
Terry And The Pirates Gold Ore Detector Ring
This ring was a toy premium from Quaker Cereals from 1947. It was offered on the Terry and the Pirates radio program. The ring has skull and crossbones on the top and dragons on the side. The really cool feature is when viewing through the aluminum tube, you see small, multi-colored crystals. These were no doubt to help you find gold. This ring had to capture a young child’s imagination. It had red plastic end caps but the one on the viewing side is missing.
